ALPHA
Alpha is a series of eleven sessions and is the gentle approach
to re-awaken your Christian faith. Alpha is for everyone!
ALTAR SOCIETY
People who pick up and launder the altar linen cloths,
a schedule is made every month.
ALTAR SERVERS
Boys and Girls who have received their First Communion and have
their parent’s permission. Training is provided.
Adults are also needed to serve during the weekday Masses.
Adult Funeral Servers.
BAPTISMAL PREPARATION
Parishioners who provide instructions for baptisms.
Second Wednesday of the month.
BIBLE STUDY
People who are interested in learning more about the Bible.
A book from the bible is chosen and studied in depth.
CARMELITES
A religious order of women who meet on the first Monday of every
month at 7:00 pm.
CHILDREN’S LITURGY
Parishioners who provide an understanding of the Word of God to
children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade Three during the 10:00
& 12:00 noon masses.

Celebration of God given talents of voice or musical instrument
at the following:

Instrumentalist

CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE
Ladies of the parish who participate in a wide variety of social,
spiritual, educational and fundraising events.
COLLECTION COUNTERS
A team of two or three people responsible for the counting and
banking all the collections on Sundays after the 8:30 am Mass.
Training is provided.
DOWNTOWN COMMUNITY KITCHEN
Is a group of people who gather once a month to socialize, share
and develop their cooking expertise, and pool financial resources
to prepare wholesome, nutritional meals for themselves and their
families. Volunteers from several downtown churches take part
in this endeavour.
EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Serve at masses on the weekend, training is provided.
FUNERAL MUSIC/CHOIR
Adults, who are available during the day to serve, read and
provide music at Funeral Masses.
JUSTICE & PEACE
Established in 1997 for the purpose of providing information,
education and action program for interested parishioners of
St. Mary’s. Focus on issues of social concern; attempt
to provide solutions from catholic social doctoral. Annual
lecture series is sponsored during Lent.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
Fraternal organization designated to plan and implement
charitable works for the community as well as to provide
fellowship to its members.
LECTORS
Men and Women who give of their time to proclaim
God’s Word during weekday & weekend liturgies.
Individuals are schedules to read at least once a month.
Training will be provided.
LEGION OF MARY
A prayer group with a particular apostolate of devotion to
our Blessed Mother. Meets every Monday at 6:30 pm.
LITURGY COMMITTEE
Plans and carries out celebration of different liturgical
events/seasons. ie. Christmas, Easter etc. Meets on the
first Thursday of each month.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION
Assists couples during marriage preparation and planning
wedding celebrations
MEDITATION GROUP
Our Christian Meditation meetings are based on the
Benedictines’ re-discovery of the 4th century
meditative practices of the Early Christian Church. After
a short talk to centre our minds and spirits on
God’s presence, we sit silently for approximately 20
minutes in private meditation, and then reflect as a group.
Most mediators continue this practice at home during the
week.

Men and women who greet parishioners at all masses

NEW BEGINNINGS
A support group for widowed, separated and divorced people
who meet on the third Thursday of the month at 7:30 pm.
MINISTRY OF SICK & HOMEBOUND
Parishioners who visit and bring communion to nursing homes
and hospital.
PLUS 55
St. Mary’s Adult members over 55 meet to get
acquainted, swap stories and build friendships. Muffin
Morning on the first Monday of every month.
PRAYER GROUP
The prayer group meets Tuesdays at 7:45 pm in the church. The
prayer group is the leaven of the church and members gather to
pray and exercise the charisums. The prayer group runs Life in
the Spirit Seminars and Healing Masses.
R.C.I.A. PROGRAM
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a gradual process that
takes place within the community of St. Mary’s for
welcoming adult newcomers, interested in becoming Roman Catholic.
Sponsors are always needed.
R.C.I.C. PROGRAM
Rite of Christian Initiation of Children is a gradual process for
children seven years of age and older who have not received any
sacramental preparation.
SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
Urgently in need of teachers to prepare Public School children for
First Communion & Confirmation.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
A group of people who offer assistance to those who are in need
in our parish boundaries.
YOUTH LEADERS & PARTICIPANTS
Our Parish should have a dynamic ministry to the youth. We invite
you to be involved.
